The Silversun Pickups are back in the studio. On their official site, this picture was posted showing singer/guitarist Brian Aubert on the floor of a studio noodling some new sounds. Since early October, they've been cooking up some new tracks.

We started playing songs off of their breakout Carnavas in 2006. I've been a huge SSPU fan ever since. They recently released The Singles Collection. This retrospective contains 10 previously released songs + a new one called "Cannibal," which aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February.

The Pickups are a Los Angeles band on the tiny Dangerbird Records label who busted through eight years ago with this single.

Aubert and bassist Nikki Monninger blend some fabulous harmonies in this "flashy" video for Panic Switch. It was released in early 2009 on the Swoon CD.

My Twinkles are normally NOT well-thought out, but in this case it appears SSPU has put some thought into theirs. Killer tune.

And, some Rock Royalty.

After Carnavas and Swoon, the band had a lot to live up to with their third record. Neck Of the Woods came out in May 2012 and featured something about Mary.

Here's hoping this band makes a Hawkeye State tour stop in 2015-16. If you do some typical music math, this new record should drop by the middle of next year. Can't wait.
