Another Eastern Iowa Brewery Expanding Its Statewide Footprint
There have been lots of recent announcements about popular Eastern Iowa craft breweries expanding to the central part of the state lately and another one is making such a move.
First, it was Big Grove Brewery who, last summer announced it would be adding to its Iowa City and Solon locations with a new one in Des Moines.
Big Grove Brewery will be joining the craft beer scene in Des Moines and opening up a 15-barrel brewery and taproom. It's going to be housed in the "Crescent Chevrolet Building as part of the Ingersoll corridor project." Below is a photo of the building.
Just recently, Waterloo-based SingleSpeed Brewery said it would expand to the Des Moines' Market District neighborhood, with a location near the Des Moines River expected to open in 2023.
It turns out, that three's company as Coralville's Backpocket Brewing has just unveiled plans for a major new project of its own!
According to KCCI, "Backpocket Pin and Pixel" is coming to Johnston sometime this fall. It "will feature duckpin bowling, which has shorter lanes and smaller balls than traditional bowling". It's also reportedly going to have classic arcade games like Pac-Man and Pinball.

Backpocket Brewing of Coralville and Dubuque, according to its Facebook page, is "Iowa-born, Iowa-grown". and "strives to bring you world-class, Iowa brewed beers. Well balanced and full-flavored, there is a Backpocket beer for every person."
