Amazon is Set to Open its First Brick-And-Mortar Store in Iowa
Amazon and its practices have been a hot-button issue for several years now. The online retailer that seemingly everything has become especially villainized recently for hurting small, local businesses, a similar argument that use to be assigned to a Wal-Mart store opening.
You've likely seen Amazon's ads touting the fact they sell small businesses items. They've also come under attack for how they treat their employees. All while their founder Jeff Bezos makes trips to space. With that said, there's still plenty of rabid Amazon fans who may be very excited to hear this news: a physical, brick-and-mortar Amazon store is coming to Iowa.
A new Amazon store is coming to Des Moines
The Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines is set to play home to a new, physical Amazon store that will likely open in 2022 - currently, Amazon's own website only states it's coming soon.. According to a Business Record article, the store will be called Amazon 4-star. The store will showcase only items that have scored a 4-star review (or higher) from Amazon users.
While this will be a first for Iowa, it's far from new for Amazon to open a brick-and-mortar store. They currently operate 33 stores in 17 states. The first was opened in the fall of 2018 in New York. Prime members will also be able to save more in-store and each item will feature a standard price and a Prime price. Customers will also be able to make returns from Amazon at the store, saving them time and postage.
