AI’s Savage Roast of Eastern Iowa Cities: How Hard Does Your Town Get Hit?

If you're like me, you probably use Chat GPT to assist with certain tasks like proofreading or gathering basic information about various subjects I wish to cover.

Well, as convenient as that is, did you know ol' Chat GPT can also deliver a scathing roast of your hometown? Oh, it's pretty ruthless, too. Let's see what it says about towns here in Eastern Iowa!

Chat GPT Has a Funny Bone

So, I asked Chat GPT, which I feel is getting to know me by now (as scary as that sounds) to really roast different Eastern Iowa cities. It warned me it wouldn't play nice. And it didn't!

I started off with Waterloo. Not surprisingly, it worked in a few obvious jabs.

Waterloo: where the only thing faster than the wind off the Cedar River is the gossip at the Hy-Vee checkout line. It's the city that proves you don’t need skyscrapers to reach new heights… of small-town drama.

Certainly, that burn could have been sicker, but the point still gets across.

Let's try another city.

Next, I tried Cedar Rapids and again, said gimme the worst you've got!

Cedar Rapids: where the most exciting thing to do is argue whether it’s the ‘City of Five Seasons’ or just four seasons and a reason to leave. It’s the only place where a night out could mean fancy dining—or just going to Target for the third time this week

That was a little more ruthless, no? Hard not to at least chuckle.

Next, I tried Iowa City...

Iowa City: where half the town thinks they’re the next great American author and the other half is just trying to remember where they parked after the game. It’s the only place where the number of bars is almost as high as the number of majors people switch in a semester.

Pretty solid burn, no?

Okay, now on to Dubuque, the oldest city in Iowa:

Dubuque: where the hills are so steep, even your car questions its life choices. It’s the city that proves you can have riverfront views and still spend your Saturday night debating whether to hit the one decent bar or stay home and watch reruns

Last, back to Northeast Iowa and another college town, I did Cedar Falls:

Cedar Falls: where ‘college town’ means there’s always a line for coffee, but never a line for real ambition. It's the city where the most popular nightlife option is still debating if Main Street is better than staying home.

I live in Cedar Falls so, I have to say, this one was quite relatable!

As far as roasts go, these were clearly savage-ish. Much less nasty than something you'd see on Comedy Central.

Still a bit more evidence that Chat GPT is capable of at least some cruelness, though it was quick to quip it was just looking to get a laugh, to hurt feelings.
