A Popular NewBo Restaurant is Getting a New Location

Indian food is making its way to Blairs Ferry Road!

If you've visited NewBo City Market these past couple of years, then you've probably noticed the restaurant Melting Bite. According to their website, the business started as a home-based bakery in Cedar Rapids back in 2017, and then moved into NewBo and added Indian food to their menu. The website reads:

"The menu offers savory Indian food, focusing on the fare one might find at Indian street food vendors. Our endeavor is to introduce the myriad variety of food Indian cuisine has to offer. Indian Food is much more than curries, and with Melting Bite, our endeavor is to offer to our patrons the 'never-tried-before' food experience."

Curry is on the menu at Melting Bite, but they also have lot of other options, including Indian Street Tacos, Poutine Chaat, Pakora, Currito Wraps, the Aloo Tikki Burger, and Butter Chicken. You can check out the full menu HERE.

Yesterday, Melting Bite made a big announcement on Facebook. They revealed that Melting Bite would be expanding to a new location. That location is 921 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, which formerly housed Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. The post reads:

"We are very thankful to all of YOU who supported us through thick and thin in the past 2.5 years at NewBo City market. The love & support we received has been tremendous and the biggest contributing factor to take this leap of faith!"

The post goes on to say that the remodeling process is officially underway, so you can follow the Facebook page for updates. They have not yet posted an expected opening date.

Fuzzy's Tacos opened their Cedar Rapids location back in September of 2017. The restaurant seems to have been closed for quite some time now, but when you Google the location, it says that the closure is only temporary. With this announcement, we now know that it's a permanent closure. The good news is that there's still a Fuzzy's location in the Iowa River Landing in Coralville! You can read more about that HERE.
