A New Tiki Bar/Restaurant is Coming to the Corridor

When you think of Iowa, you definitely don't think of it as a tropical location. But, you can pretend it is at a new tiki bar and restaurant that will be opening this year down in Iowa City!

According to an article from the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Tiki Tacos 'n Burgers n' Wings plans to open at 119 E Washington Street in downtown Iowa City (right next door to Target) sometime during the summer of 2021.

We don't know too much about the business just yet, but their official Facebook page says that it's an upscale fast-casual restaurant with an "island vibe" and a full bar. The owner told me that they hope to have "everyone's guilty pleasures under one roof." A post on the page reveals that they will offer handmade tortillas, ground in-house Iowa beef, special wing sauces, and authentic tiki cocktails.

Tiki Tacos 'n Burgers n' Wings has been posting construction updates online, but they still have a ways to go. The latest update that arrived on Friday showed that framing is done and mechanical work is in progress. They even share a sneak peek of what the place is expected to look like when it's done:
