A Great $10 Lunch With An Awesome View Of Cedar Rapids

It's hard to get a good lunch for ten bucks these days. It's even harder to get a lunch for ten bucks in a fancy establishment. There may only be just a handful of them. Lo and behold, in the heart of the Heartland, I found one at the top of the Doubletree by Hilton. It's "350 First," in downtown Cedar Rapids.

Even my friend from Minneapolis sat down and said, "This is a GREAT view!" And, the entire meal (entrée, drink, side AND TAX) was just $10. It's their daily special, seven days a week! And it's not the schlob food (grilled pizza, pickled eggs and sweet tea) you might expect for $10. You can choose from top end burgers, Cubano sandwiches, rustic chicken, and new this year...A MEATLOAF SANDWICH! Just like mom used to make...only with an incredible view.

I ordered the B.Y.O. (Build Your Own Burger)  with bacon, sautéed mushrooms and carmelized onions. An incredible burger I could hardly finish. I ordered the cole slaw as my side. Tart enough, deliciously creamy...good enough on it's own.

Special thanks to Chef Adam Mykris. He's got a great thing going on at 350 First. Adam did a fantastic job cooking and preparing the meal. After the feast, he visited us at our table and took a quick picture. Thanks for the great food Adam!

350 First is the best kept lunch secret in the Midwest. Delicious food, a great view and only $10! I guarantee, you'll come back for the food and will forever remember the view.
