A Few Cities in Iowa Made the List of ‘2016’s Best Sports Cities’
We may not have any professional sports teams here in Iowa, but that doesn't mean we're a bad state for fans!
It doesn't matter where you're from, sports fans are EVERYWHERE. According to a recent survey, almost three-quarters of adults claim to be sports fans. Because of that, the sports industry in America is massive, making around $60 billion dollars every year.
WalletHub took a look at over 423 U.S. cities to figure out where the best sports cities in America are when it comes to the five biggest sports in the country: football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer. Here are the top 5:
- New York, NY
- Boston, MA
- Pittsburgh, PA
- Los Angeles, CA
- Chicago, IL
A couple of cities in Iowa ranked in the top half of the list, with Iowa City doing the best in the state at #113. Des Moines also made the list at #141, and Ames came in at #182. Not too bad for a state with no NFL, NHL, MLB, or NBA teams!
