The basketball season for UNI came to a close a little under two weeks ago in the second round of the NIT.

When that final horn sounded, Panther fans everywhere felt the sadness of another fun season come to a close.

But you'd have to call me crazy if you think we're also not thinking about football games starting in September.

The Panthers kick off on September 3, and as always, they've got a loaded schedule ahead.

A Breakdown of UNI's 2022 Football Schedule

The Panthers will embark on their 2022 season in September of this year. Let's take a look at who they'll face, including some of the best in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

After falling in the first round of the playoffs, adding a few more coaches to the staff, and returning some key pieces, UNI is out for revenge.

Though there were significant losses like Trevor Penning, Isaiah Weston, Jared Brinkman, Omar Brown, and others, the Panthers are still loaded.

To name a few, Benny Sapp III, Theo Day, Deion McShane, Sam Schnee, Caden Houghtelling, Quan Hampton, Vance McShane, Stefan Black II, Jared Penning, and way, way more.

For me personally, this will be my first season covering the team full-time, and I couldn't be more excited.

I've covered UNI football in a variety of ways since the fall of 2018 and after graduation, I never thought I would again. Here we are.

As I said during basketball season, too, I'm technically just a radio personality who happens to write about UNI.

I don't have to be unbiased. I can openly root for the team I cover, which makes it all the more fun.

I love the University of Northern Iowa. I love the Panthers. I love my job.

Go Cats.
