A Big New Event is Coming to Downtown Cedar Rapids [UPDATE]
Get ready for a Downtown Cedar Rapids block party!
On Friday, September 16th, the first ever BLOCKtoberfest will take over a section of Downtown Cedar Rapids. The event is being put on by the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance and the Fun Not Fancy Restaurant Group, and it will feature a concert with popular Iowa bands The Pork Tornadoes and Slap N Tickle!
BLOCKtoberfest will take place downtown on 2nd Ave SE and 3rd St SE on September 16th from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is open to all ages and there will be food and beer available for purchase. The best part? It's only $5 to get into the concert, and that money will benefit the Kiss Your Kids Foundation and the Iowa Giving Crew!
The Facebook event refers to BLOCKtoberfest as "the block party of your dreams!" Over 4,000 people have responded "going" or "interested" on the page, so I think it's safe to assume that the event will be huge! Here's the official schedule posted on the page:
- 5 p.m. - Gates open
- 5:30 p.m. - DJ Bryan Lee
- 6:30 p.m. - Slap N Tickle
- 8 p.m. - The Pork Tornadoes
- 10 p.m. - End
The event page also notes that the event does allow all ages, but it's not geared towards kids. It reads:
"Standard disclaimer, while you can most certainly bring your kids of any age, this event is not geared towards children. There may be an occasional song lyric or word uttered from stage that is not appropriate. Also, there will be other adults participating in cold beverages throughout the show, so we don't have control over what is said around you throughout the night. Use your own discretion."
Another note: this is a standing room only event, so it is not advised to bring chairs. You can check out more details on the official event HERE.
