It's hard to believe that it's already been a decade since we lost Ronnie James Dio. He sang for Deep Purple on three albums, three albums with Black Sabbath, two more with his band DIO (both went platinum), and many others. The albums that he was a part of have combined sales of nearly 50 million copies worldwide.

But before he became a metal icon, his music career began in the late-1950s in the world of 'Doo Wop' and in 1961 "Ronnie and the Red Caps" released the song "An Angel is Missing":

He is also known for popularizing the 'Metal Horns' in Rock & Roll:

Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2009 and he died the following year.
