23 People Arrested The Last Time Marilyn Manson Played C.R.

Things ended poorly the last time Marilyn Manson played in Cedar Rapids. It was April 28th, 1999. A crowd of 4,765 packed the Five Seasons Center in downtown Cedar Rapids. Everything was going fine, until Manson walked off the stage in the middle of his set.

He left because someone in his band stuck a large yellow smiley face on a stage prop. Manson saw it, and left the stage immediately. The crowd was pissed that the show ended early, and that's when things got ugly.

Outside the arena, concert goers swarmed Manson's tour bus. Keep in mind, these people paid good money for their tickets and didn't get much of a show. I'm sure the booze was also kicking in, making this the perfect storm.

Fans started to rock the bus back and forth. Police were called and there were a total of 23 arrests. Charges included disorderly conduct, interfering with police and trespassing. These things don't normally happen in Cedar Rapids!

It was a real shit show....all because of a smiley face on a stage prop.

And now Marilyn Manson is back in Cedar Rapids this Saturday, August 10th. He's on the road with Rob Zombie, and they will be performing at the U.S. Cellular Center. Tickets are still available, and can be purchased at this link.

That was 20 years ago, I'm hoping we don't have problems this time around. Let's just hope for a good, clean show with no incidents.
