Cedar Rapids Firefighters Go PINK in October
There has been a growing buzz around the world about “Going Green” from the environment. Various causes have since assigned a “color for a cause” and it has definitely caught on. Colors are popular, but so are fantastic catch phrases like “Movember,” where men grow mustaches to raise awareness for various cancers. Another fun, but very important, trend for a cause is the social media challenges like the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge”.
October’s “color for a cause” is pink for breast cancer awareness month. Firefighters in our very own Cedar Rapids are showing their support for breast cancer survivors and are helping spread awareness for the entire month. The firefighters of Local #11 will be wearing these shirts (pictured below) while on duty.
They not only designed the shirts, but they purchased their own, designed a pink version for the public to purchase AND they are once again donating ALL proceeds to Mercy Medical Center’s ‘Especially for You’ Fund. Way to go CR Firefighters!
