Jason Momoa is everywhere right now. You'd think he has a blockbuster movie opening later this month. Momoa is Aquaman, and his feature film entry into the DC universe opens nationwide December 21st. He is currently making press rounds to promote the movie and was recently announced as a host of Saturday Night Live.

Momoa will host this weekends episode of SNL with musical guest Mumford and Sons. Momoa called the hosting gig a dream come true. Momoa has shot to fame with roles on shows like Game of Thrones and Frontier. He first portrayed Aquaman in the film Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and then again in the Justice League movie. Not bad for a guy raised in Iowa.

Some may not be aware of Momoa's Iowa ties. After being born in Hawaii, Momoa was raised in Norwalk, Iowa by his mom. His mother and grandmother still live in the Des Moines area. He becomes the latest actor with Iowa ties to host SNL. Iowa natives Ashton Kutcher and Elijah Wood both hosted shows in 2003. Proud Iowa native Tom Arnold hosted several shows during the 1990s. And Grinnell College graduate Kumail Nanjiani hosted SNL in 2017.
