It's been one heck of a run for the Little League team from various parts of Southeast, Iowa. After beating Missouri last week they now get to represent the state of Iowa in the little league World Series.

There are only 20 teams worldwide who get the opportunity to take the big stage in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and compete to be considered the best team in little league baseball.

Thomas Mason IV is the president of the Southeast Little League board of directors and he told KWQC

This has been a dream of theirs for a while. Some of them have played together since they were eight years old, and to watch those boys grow from eight years old to 12 years old, and to be able to achieve their dream is absolutely awesome.

This Southeast All-Star team is made up of kids from Davenport, Bettendorf, and LeClaire, and they take on Hagerstown, Indiana, today at 2 p.m. The game can be watched on ESPN.

Anyone who spent years of their life playing little league baseball had dreams of one day getting to play in the little league world series. With the lights, the cameras, playing on national tv, and the packed crowds at Williamsport, it's a pretty magical place for little league baseball players. For some of these kids, these will be some of the biggest games they ever get to be a part of in their athletic careers.

Being able to compete against and meet other 11/12-year-olds from all over the world is something none of these young Iowa baseball players will ever forget. Owen Everhart plays for the Southeast team and he told KWQC

It’s just crazy. Like, you walk downstairs and there is another country right next to you. It’s cool because they have different languages.

I can't help but say my inner 12-year-old is a little jealous of the experience these kids are going to have as I was never able to make it to the little league world series but at the same time, I couldn't be more excited to cheer on this Iowa team. Last night I was watching the Canadian team vs Australia and it brought back a ton of memories of playing little league baseball.

That was some of the most fun I've ever had in my life and I hope these kids enjoy it. It goes by pretty fast and no matter how they do in the tournament, I hope they sit back and take it in, even if it's only for a few minutes. I'll be rooting them on from my couch at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

Good luck Southeast!
