Denimfest took place over Memorial Day Weekend in Forest City at the Winnebago Rally campgrounds. Over the past few years, site has always been the site of some sort of summer country music festival.

Initially, it was called Tree Town. Then just a few years ago, Country Thunder Music Festivals bought it out and rebranded it as Country Thunder Iowa. The very first Iowa Country Thunder festival was set for 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic had to be cancelled.

They came back in the summer of 2021 and 2022. Artists like Kane Brown, Old Dominion, Kip Moore, Lainey Wilson, and Lee Brice. However, in November of 2022 it was confirmed that Country Thunder Iowa would end after only two festivals.

That's when Denimfest in Forest City started to get underway.

The 2023 music festival featured names like Smash Mouth, Big & Rich, Dierks Bentley, and Jelly Roll. It's already been confirmed that the festival will be returning in 2024.

One of the big stories that came from this festival involved the Sunday evening headliner, Jelly Roll. The country singer took to the stage in Forest City on May 29th.

As the singer was wrapping up his set with his hit song 'Son of A Sinner' he started to experience audio issues. The Tennesse native tried to restart the song, but those issues still persisted.

He had to restart the song three times due to sound issues. In the end, he just decided to give the fans in Forest City something special.

They say that country music is just three chords and the truth, so this superstar just stripped it down to perform an acoustic set with his guitarist.

You can watch some of the performance down below!
