The City of Cedar Falls is working to assure residents that Channel 15 programming will not disappear, even as the CFU prepares to shut down its cable and TV services in October 2026.

While Channel 15’s staff is employed by the City, much of its funding comes from franchise fees tied to CFU’s cable service.

The Mayor Comments on Channel 15's Future
Many are likely wondering what will happen to Channel 15 with no cable option.
Mayor Danny Laudick acknowledged the concern but emphasized the City’s commitment to keeping local programming alive.
We recognize that the Channel 15 programming is a mainstay of local news and connection for residents in Cedar Falls
The mayor went on to say,
...and we remain committed to looking at alternative ways to continue providing the Channel 15 news and content that residents are so accustomed to going forward
City officials say they will work closely with CFU over the next year to explore options for maintaining the same level of community-focused programming that Cedar Falls families have relied on for decades.
