Zach Bryan Reaches Career Milestone

Zach Bryan is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in the music industry.

Recently, the singer sat down with Bruce Springsteen for an edition of Rolling Stone's newest musician on musician series.

In the interview, Bryan details the story of one of his very first shows with his band.

Bryan Will Never Forget His First Iowa Show

Springsteen had asked the Oklahoma songwriter about the guys in his band and just how they came together.

Bryan called up some of his old high school friends after he got out of the Navy to form a band. He had only played one live show before this. A few of these guys actually quit their jobs to join him on the road.

They all apparently hopped into the 28-year-old's truck and drove out to Des Moines for the Iowa State Fair. This was actually their first show with everyone together.

Bryan says that this show still haunts him.

"To this day, I still have PTSD from it," the three-time Grammy nominee said.

"It was the most terrifying experience of my life. Because we didn’t even rehearse. We’re just like, 'Let’s do this.”

This performance took place back in the summer of 2021, and was relatively last minute.

Colter Wall was supposed to take to the MidAmerican Energy Stage on Thursday, August 19th, but due to "unforeseen travel restrictions" he was unable to perform.

This Facebook post went up two days before the scheduled concert date, so Bryan and his team likely got a 48 to 72 hour notice about the show.

According to Rolling Stone, once Springsteen and Bryan finished up the interview together, they went next door to record Springsteen's vocals for the song 'Sandpaper' which would be released months later on Zach Bryan's album The Great American Bar Scene.

During the rest of this nearly twenty minute interview, Bryan and Springsteen talk about songwriting, music genres, and imposter syndrome.
