It's been quite easy to get some mileage from the 'Ottumwa Man' saga I've started here, and if I had to bet where this story came from in Iowa, I'd be willing to put quite a bit of money on that city in the southeastern portion of the state.

But sadly, no. 'Ottumwa Man' will have to live on elsewhere.

Today, 'Des Moines Man' takes center stage in Iowa.

As shared by WHO13, this individual is in the "Polk County Jail facing multiple charges after police say he bit an officer Tuesday while they were trying to help him find a sober ride home."

Officers were called to a scene where a man was passed out in his vehicle around 2:30 PM yesterday in Des Moines. When law enforcement arrived, the found Jaston Boone, who was extremely intoxicated. They also found open containers in the car.

As officers were working to find a sober driver to take the 27-year-old home, he jumped into the vehicle and tried to leave the scene. While trying to restrain him, Boone bit one of the officers on the arm.

Following the struggle, Boone was able to race away from the scene. However, Des Moines police were able to apprehend him later at his residence.

He is now being charged with one of each of the following counts:

  • Assault causing serious injury-peace officer
  • OWI
  • Open container
  • Interference with official acts
  • Reckless driving
  • Operating without registration card or plate
  • Leaving the scene of an accident - property damage
  • Failure to maintain control
  • Violation - financial liability - accident
