Cedar Rapids Welcomes a New Food Delivery Service

New Food Delivery Service Debuts in Cedar Rapids
The Corridor Business Journal reports that the new service has been in the works for nearly four years, but that it is now up and running. It is called LOCO CR. Its leaders say that the service will provide a superior experience for restaurants, drivers, and customers compared to national companies.
The CBJ reports that LOCO CR will operate much like CHOMP, a food delivery service that has served the Iowa City area since 2017.
Which Restaurants Can I Order From Using LOCO CR?
The service kicked off in early November with just one restaurant on board, The Blind Pig. But the CBJ reports that more restaurants will be added quickly. A quick check of the LOCO CR Facebook page shows that Bops Pizza will start delivery using the service on Tuesday, December 16th. The Salsa Guy Cafe has also expressed interest in joining, according to the CBJ.
How will LOCO CR be Different From Other Services?
The CBJ reports that LOCO CR will be fully owned by local restaurants, who are given the opportunity to become investors. Around 30 investors are expected to be in place by mid-January. Participating restaurants are also required to be locally owned.
The new service will also charge a 15% commission for local restaurants to accept LOCO orders, compared to 30% charged by national services, according to the CBJ. LOCO drivers will also be locally employed and will not use independent contract drivers.
