One thing is certain about Iowa Hawkeye football teams. They always have a strong offensive line. One of Iowa's top interior linemen has been named a finalist for the prestigious Outland Trophy.

Hawkeye Center a Finalist for the Outland Trophy

Iowa Hawkeye center Logan Jones has been named a semi-finalist for the 2025 Outland Trophy, according to Hawk Fanatic. The Outland Trophy is presented annually to the top interior linemen, offensive or defensive, in college football. The winner of the award will be announced on December 12th.

Jones Anchors Another Strong Iowa Offensive Line

Hawk Fanatic reports that Jones has started 48 games in his Iowa career and has served as a team captain in each game so far this season. Pro Football Focus has him ranked as the top center in college football and has ZERO holding penalties in 2025. Jones and the Iowa offensive line have outrushed their opponents in 8 of 10 games this season, and have rushed for over 200 yards on four different occasions, according to Hawk Fanatic.


 

Iowa's Offensive Line Helps Make Gronowski a Star

Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski has only been sacked 13 times this year, thanks to Iowa's offensive line. He also has a rushing touchdown in all 10 games, which is a Big Ten single-season record, according to Hawk Fanatic. His 13 rushing touchdowns are the most in Iowa history.

Other Iowa Linemen Who Have Won the Outland Trophy

Hawk Fanatic reports that four other Iowa linemen have won the Outland Trophy. Brandon Scherff in 2014, Robert Gallery in 2003, Alex Karras in 1957, and Calvin Jones in 1955.
