A new downtown Cedar Rapids pizza restaurant had me excited. One, it is literally a block from my work. Two, the restaurant is owned and operated by the same people who run Napoli's Italian Restaurant in Marion and Cedar Rapids, which has amazing food. So on Tuesday, I made my first trip to Dua Pie.

Where is Dua Pie Located?

Dua Pie is located at 375 3rd Street SE in downtown Cedar Rapids, in the former home of Gianna's Italian Beef. The new pizza place just opened last month, and features New York-style pizza by the slice. They also serve hot subs, pasta dishes, calzones, and stromboli. But let's talk about the 'pie' from Dua Pie.

Dua Pie serves classic varieties like pepperoni, sausage, and supreme. But they also feature slices of Hawaiian, BBQ chicken, buffalo chicken, and even chicken alfredo pizza. They also have several stuffed pizza options.

My friend Bob is a pizza aficionado. He got two slices of sausage and pepperoni and called it some of the best pizza he's had in Cedar Rapids. The crust was light and thin, but was fluffy and tasted amazing. Two slices and a soda will set you back around $12.

I had my sights set on something different. I tried a sausage and cheese calzone. As you can see, it was loaded with cheese, and the calzone was golden brown and amazing.

We also saw several people enjoying the wings from Dua Pie, and they looked and smelled fantastic! Something to try on my next visit!
