Cedar Rapids Hibachi Restaurant Opens a New Location on the SW Side

Get ready for more Coyle's Hibachi Chef! The popular Cedar Rapids restaurant has announced that they have opened a second location within the city!

About Coyle's Hibachi Chef

Coyle's Hibachi Chef first came on the food scene as a food truck back in 2021. It was often parked on Center Point Road near The Blind Pig, which is where I tried it for the first time... and then MANY times after that.

In addition to the food truck, the folks behind Coyle's announced in 2022 that they would also be opening a permanent location in Cedar Rapids. The restaurant moved into the former Winifred's at 3847 1st Ave SE and officially opened its doors in December of that year.

The Food

Coyle's is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in hibachi dishes, which consist of meat, seafood, and/or veggies cooked teppanyaki grill. All of the hibachi entrees at Coyle's come with veggies and fried or white rice, and options include chicken, steak, scallops, shrimp, salmon, tofu, pork, tuna, and more. The menu also features teriyaki bowls, bento boxes, a variety of sushi rolls, soup, salads, sides, and appetizers like crab rangoon, spring rolls, and edamame.

The New Location

On November 5th, Coyle's announced on Facebook that they now have a second location in Cedar Rapids! It's at 555 Gateway Pl SW, which was previously the home of El Bajio Mexican Restaurant. The new Coyle's is now open for both dine-in and carry-out.

If you'd like to visit the Coyle's on the SW side, the business' hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturdays they're open all day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For carry-out orders you can call 319-249-1020.
