The first Cheba Hut restaurant is now open in Iowa and promises to be a dining experience that will cure any case of the munchies!

Cheba Hut got started back in 1998 when restaurant founder Scott Jennings decided to show the harmony between great-tasting food and a very specific counter-culture. They pride themselves on serving homegrown food in a relaxed atmosphere. So the marijuana-themed restaurant chain has opened its first Iowa location at 5260 Merle Hay Road in Johnston according to the Des Moines Register. And while the restaurant may lean into the cannabis lifestyle it is important to point out none of the food or drinks contain cannabis.

The Register reports that Cheba Hut serves around 30 varieties of vegetarian and meat sub sandwiches, each named after a variety of cannabis. You can get them on white, wheat, or garlic bread, and many come toasted. Their menu features names like the White Widow, Acapulco Gold, and Jamaican Red.

But like any good restaurant that claims it will cure your munchies, it's all about the appetizers. Cheba Hut offers loaded not-chos, pretzel nuggets, garlic cheese bread, and several varieties of Rice Krispy bars. They also serve cookies and something called a goo ball which is Rice Krispies, honey, cocoa, butter, and marshmallows.

Cheba Hut also has a bar area in addition to restaurant seating. The Johnston location is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

An Iowa City Cheba Hut location closed in 2014, according to the Iowa City Press-Citizen.
