It is barely Fall, but we're going to talk a bit about snow plows. No, there is no dire forecast call for several inches of incredibly early snow. But how would you like to help paint and design a plow that will be used for snow removal this year? Calling all artists!

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the city of Cedar Rapids Public Works Department is inviting Cedar Rapids Schools and other organizations to participate in the 'Paint the Plow' program this year. The decorated blades will be used for snow removal this winter.

The Gazette reports that the 'Paint the Plow' program will run from September 30th through November 1st. Any school or organization interested in taking part can sign up at CityofCR.com/PaintaPlow. Once you are signed up, the Public Works Department will deliver a plow blade, paint, brushes, and a tarp to the school or organization for a week. Then it's time to get creative!

Once the painting is complete, photos of your creation can be sent to R.Merritt@cedar-rapids.org. The Gazette reports that the artwork will then be shared on the City's website and Facebook page. You can take a look at some of last year's decorated plows HERE.
