Out with the old and in with the new!

Sometime earlier this year, The Break Room, a Cedar Rapids dive bar, closed its doors at 3108 1st Avenue NE. The good news is that a new business has taken over, another bar called 1st Ave Tap!

According to the Facebook page, 1st Ave Tap is a local dive bar with games like pool and darts. In fact, the bar actually has a pool league that they recruited for back in August. The Gazette reports that the person behind 1st Ave Tap is Megan Evans, who is associated with other local spots like The Blind Pig and Pedaler’s Fork.

1st Ave Tap will officially open its doors to customers today, September 25th. It will be open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. For the latest updates, you can follow the new business on Facebook HERE.

1st Ave Tap isn't the only new dive bar in the city of Cedar Rapids! Just a few weeks ago, we told you about the grand opening of Lil Grove at 1010 2nd Ave SW, the former  home of The Rewind. The new bar and restaurant not only offers three different happy hours each day (Monday through Friday), but also offers lunch and a breakfast buffet seven days a week. Lil Grove opens daily at 7 a.m. You can read more about it HERE.

Lil Grove is one of many new restaurants that have opened in the Corridor these past nine months! You can check out a full list of places that began welcoming customers in 2024 HERE.
