What a terrible way to start the week if you're a worker for John Deere in Illinois and especially the Quad Cities region. A report today says that 489 workers have been laid off in both Iowa and Illinois with a vast majority being in the Land of Lincoln.

I saw this just shared by The Gazette in the Quad Cities. It states that John Deere has begun another round of layoffs with a total of 489 workers encompassing centers in eastern Iowa and also Illinois.

The report says that 289 workers in the John Deere Moline facility learned their fate last Wednesday while 21 at the East Moline Harvester Works were also let go.

Other reports say that many of these layoffs are salaried office employees in the Moline area of John Deere.

It's not clear if this is the complete layoff list or if more are to come. As this is a developing story, it will be updated once new information is released by the company.
