Young The Giant’s ‘Apartment’ and Former Incarnation — The Jakes [VIDEO]

This Young The Giant video has everything a modern-day music freak needs: sand surfing, skinny dipping, bonfires, campers on fire, people stuffing birthday cake in their mouths, a micro bus and a super8 video shoot in an apartment.

"Apartment" was was one of the singles from YTG's first record, the eponymous 2011 release. The Southern California band's lead singer Sameer Gadhia described the record as one containing a "summery, kind of Orange County sound."

It will waft through the 5-smell summery season here in Cedar Rapids on August 8 as Young The Giant headlines the KRNA NewBo Music Festival. "Apartment" was the first international single released by the band and was joined by the super fantastic jam "My Body." "Cough Syrup" was another hit from that debut CD and was originally recorded for an EP in 2008 when YTG was known as "The Jakes." Here's a taste of their "former selves."
