What a long, rather "un-strange" trip it's been for the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl keeps it real. Two decades ago, he noodled around in a studio after Kurt Cobain passed and made a few cassettes. Played every instrument on the first record. Then, snagged some guys for a band and hit the road. 20 years later, Foo Fighters are the most successful rock band in the world.

They are the most-played band in all forms of our genre: Alternative, Active and Mainstream rock.

They will celebrate with a massive show on the 4th of July in D.C. Declare your FooDependence and sign in to win the ultimate flyaway below. Grohl grew up right next door in Virginia. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our nation's birthday by celebrating with the Foo Fighters.

Grohl wears alot of hats: musician/filmmaker/comedian/historian. I add "comedian" because he's kept it light all these years, especially in some of his videos. There are some funny ones.

Along with his awesome music work, he's defended bands who play in stinky rock clubs and live in vans down by the river. He loathes the reality show format of singing competitions. He appreciates the founding fathers, with tastes as disparate as Andrew Gold and Ronnie James Dio. I salute you Dave Grohl on 20 years of Foo Fighters [and some major damage done with Nirvana before that].

Good luck and thanks for entering our FFF [Foo Fighter Flyaway]. F'in AAAAYYYYY!!!
