New England's deflate-gate and the behavior of Seattle's Marshawn Lynch at yesterday's media day have left me totally turned off when it comes to Sunday's Super Bowl. I love football but these two teams have managed to leave me disinterested in the big game.

Somehow the NFL has managed to completely take the focus off what should be a great game on Sunday. The deflate-gate fiasco involving New England has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. One question lingers in my mind though... how were only New England's footballs under-inflated? Someone took some air out of them and if it was indeed a locker room attendant I'm guessing he didn't make that decision on his own. Root for New England? I don't think so.

Seattle. I've never been a big fan of their coach Pete Carroll. There's no arguing his success, but the fact that he left USC right before their program was hit by NCAA sanctions was strike one for me. When I see him, rightful or not, I see pompous. Again, whether right or not, when I see Pete Carroll I'm reminded of  Steve Alford. I don't like that reminder.

There's another reason for me not to like Seattle this week and his name is Marshawn Lynch. He repeated a seven-word phrase every time he was asked a question at yesterday's Super Bowl Media Day: "I'm here so I won't get fined." (video below) Someone needs to remind Marshawn that, without the media, his paycheck would be a whole lot less than $7.5 million per year.

Root for Seattle Sunday? Nope. I guess I'll just cheer the commercials.
