There's a group of people that actually keep track of every single brewery or brew pub in the lower 48 states. When you're looking for the freshest possible beer, look no further than here.

They can tell  you if beer is being made on your block. The only thing they haven't figured out how to do, so far, is to tell you when the beer is finished and ready for your palate. Give 'em time.

There are actually 4,750 breweries and brew pubs in the contiguous 48. Here's a wide-view of beer makers around the U.S. This view lets you zoom in. It seems to me there's at least a few missing from the Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha area.
