Villanova, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Baylor, Iowa State. What do all of these teams have in common? They were all ranked in college basketball’s Top Ten this season and they have all since lost and dropped out of it.

Iowa will now join them.

The Iowa Hawkeyes came into this week ranked tenth in the country after big wins against Ohio State and Minnesota. It was the first time the Hawks have cracked the Top Ten in 12 years. You have to go back to the Alford regime for the last time the Iowa men’s basketball team made it that high in the polls.

The high was short-lived. Iowa’s 75-67 loss to Michigan this past Wednesday night will surely drop the Hawks from the Top Ten. They will have a chance to rebound on Saturday when they travel to take on Northwestern (11 a.m., BTN) and they’ll likely have other chances to crack the Top Ten again this year. The question is, will they?
