Every time this sort of story comes along, it sickens you to read the details. In this case, it looks like a big group of dogs are about to experience a better life after some horrible maltreatment.

A massive puppy mill rescue just happened in Alabama and a Waterloo shelter is helping in the effort to find new homes for these dogs. Cedar Bend Humane Society will be making a wide variety of dogs available to adopt within the next couple of days.

The ASPCA will place over 130 dogs into forever homes across the country. A large, substandard breeding facility in Needham, AL was busted last month. Chihuahuas, Chows and Pomeranians are in the group of dogs who were living in deplorable conditions. Many suffered from malnourishment and other medical issues. Puppy remains were also found on the property. The owners were charged with animal cruelty.

The Waterloo shelter joins facilities in 10 other states who are bringing the dogs back to health, and placing them in homes. Call Cedar Bend at 318.232.6887 for more information.

We're glad agencies like ASPCA exist and ensure offending parties are arrested. Just imagine how appreciative these little animals are.
