The Cedar Rapids Police Department continues to investigate a Monday afternoon shooting in Cedar Rapids, despite announcing two arrests.

A 19-year-old man was shot early Monday afternoon in the 1200 block of 3rd Ave. SE. He was found suffering from a gunshot wound, not considered to be life-threatening, in a parking lot at that location. During a Cedar Rapids Police Department investigation, they determined that multiple rounds were fired from multiple suspects.

Today, police have announced the arrest of Rashad Hull, 25, and Carnell Tiwan Hughes, age 28.

Hull was arrested for Attempted Murder, Going Armed with Intent, Intimidation with a Weapon, and Providing False Information. There was also a warrant for his arrest in Illinois, due to a parole violation.

Hughes, meanwhile, turned himself in at the Cedar Rapids Police Station last night. He was arrested for Reckless Use of a Firearm and an AK-47 was seized. Additional charges for Hughes include Attempted Murder, Going Armed with Intent, and Intimidation with a Weapon.

Cedar Rapids Police are releasing no further information at this time as the investigation continues and other suspects could still be charged.
