According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, "TSA officials found a loaded firearm Monday in a carry-on bag at The Eastern Iowa Airport."

The firearm was discovered in a passenger's bag during a security screening. The gun was loaded with seven rounds. Airport officials confiscated the gun and the passenger was cited on a local charge.

I wasn't sure of the exact wording of the law, so I checked out the TSA's web site. It says the following: "You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only. Declare the firearm and/or ammunition to the airline when checking your bag at the counter. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed.

Authorities have not released the name of the passenger at this time. This is the first incident at the Eastern Iowa Airport this year....let's hope it's the last.
