The best time of the sports year is upon us -- the "big dance" is here.

Let's face it: Filling out a bracket is a crapshoot. Upsets are inevitable, and you never know which team will get hot at what time.

With all of that being said, I'm still going to offer a few of my own hair-brained tips for a bracket that won't bust.

    7, 8 & 9 Seeds are Your Friends

These teams are talented and can pull upsets, especially in the second round and beyond.

  • 2

    A 12 will Beat a 5

Do a little research and you'll see how prevalent this is. Last year was the first time since 2007 that a 12-seed didn't pull off an upset.

    No More Than Two

Never have more than two 1-seeds in the Final Four. The average Final Four features 1.8 1-seeds.

  • 4

    1 to Win

Pick a 1-seed to win it all. Since 1985, top seeds have won 19 of 31 (61%) titles.

  • 5

    Pick Michigan State

Pick Michigan State to advance at least to the Elite 8. Why? Tom Izzo. Need I say more?
