If you thought you would get a head start by leaving for the holiday weekend today, you're not the only one!

It's a holiday weekend, which always means plenty of people are traveling to vacation destinations near and far. According to a new survey from AAA, 44.2 million Americans have plans to travel at least 50 miles from home this weekend, with 37.5 of them traveling by car. Those numbers make this the most traveled 4th of July holiday weekend EVER. With that many people on the roads, you're definitely going to see some traffic this weekend.

A study published on Fox News also revealed that, on average, the absolute WORST time to be on the road is between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. today. That's right: not the 4th of July... TODAY. There will be increased traffic on Tuesday, though, especially between the hours of 10 and 11 p.m.

This year I will not be headed home to Michigan for the holiday weekend, mainly because the 4th of July falls on a Tuesday this year. When you have to work Monday and Wednesday, it really makes no sense to drive 8 hours!

If you're traveling this weekend, good luck and have a safe trip!
