I was just wasting time surfing the web when I noticed a story about the late Johnny Carson. There was a photo of Johnny and his Tonight Show sidekick, Ed McMahon. Then it hit me. A question came out of nowhere, and I didn't know the answer. Is Ed McMahon dead?

Does this ever happen to you? Maybe you see an old TV show or movie. You see an aging celebrity and you can't quite remember if he or she is still above ground. Ed, as it turns out, is dead. Quite dead. He died in June 2009 at the age of 86.

Perhaps this is aging me.  I'm sure there are a bunch of young KRNA listeners that don't remember Ed McMahon.  He was best known for his role on The Tonight Show from 1962 through 1992.  He also hosted TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes with Dick Clark from 1982 to 1998.  He's just one of those guys... not a major celebrity, but big enough that you feel like you should know whether or not he's breathing.  You know, kind of like Wilford Brimley. Oh crap!  Is Wilford still around?
