My guess is CNN’s Anderson Cooper was just looking to fill some air time recently by taking a couple light-hearted jabs at Smashing Pumpkins leader, Billy Corgan.  What he got instead was Corgan firing back (via Twitter, of course), calling Cooper a “globalist shill”.

During the bit, which aired on Anderson Cooper 360 on a segment called “Ridiculist” (clever), Cooper poked fun at Corgan for recently appearing on the cover of PAWS Chicago magazine with two cats.  Cooper took the opportunity to suggest the Pumpkins have faded into obscurity, now only reappearing on covers of magazines for kitties.  What seemed to be left in the background is that PAWS Chicago is the publication for a no-kill shelter in Corgan’s beloved hometown that the musician strongly supports.

I guess the American public needs these fluff pieces where somebody is being made fun of.  To me, it seems lazy.  With ISIS, important elections, and government gridlock, it seems like a supposed respected journalist should be above this kind of garbage.  Hey Anderson, you’re not Jon Stewart!  The ironic thing is you’ll probably get just as much substance on Stewart’s Daily Show as you will on any of our “globalist shill” news channels.

In other Corgan news, the new Smashing Pumpkins album, Monuments to An Elegy is out December 9.  In Anderson Cooper news, he will continue to accept shoddy, lowbrow journalism as a means to get ratings.
