There are good and bad drivers all over the place, but apparently some states have it a lot worse than others...

Quote Wizard recently published a list where they ranked all 50 states based on who has the worst drivers. They used new data from the Insurance Information Institute, which indicated that both car accident rates and the average cost of a car accident went up this year. The official rankings are based off of the number of accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs, citations, and fatalities in each state.

Here are the top five states with the WORST drivers:

  1. California
  2. Minnesota
  3. Utah
  4. South Carolina
  5. Washington

On the other hand, here are the states with the BEST drivers:

  1. Rhode Island
  2. Florida
  3. Mississippi
  4. Michigan
  5. Arkansas

I was 100% SHOCKED to see Michigan on the list of the best drivers. I have no idea how my home state managed to rank so high, but I feel like the people doing this survey had to do some of the math wrong. As far as Iowa goes, we came in on the good half of the list, coming in at #27.

Check out the rest of the survey HERE.
