The Best Small Town County Fairs in Eastern Iowa
While not every county fair can be (or wants to be) as big as the Great Jones County Fair, there are many reasons to enjoy and be proud of what each of these small town county fairs have to offer.
The smaller county fairs offer spirited events and festivities for their communities with everything from corn dogs, cotton candy and ice cold lemonade to carnival rides, demo derbies and tractor pulls. Here are my picks for some of the best small town county fairs in Eastern Iowa.
June 28 – July 3 The Linn County Fair in Central City, IA. hosts the Mini Monster Trucks along with Chuckwagon Races, and the ever popular Truck and Tractor Pull.
July 5-9: Buchanan County Fair, Independence, Iowa welcomes country singer Lee Brice along with Demo Derby and a family night of free races on July 5.
July 13, 2016 – July 17, 2016 – Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton, Iowa – the city of lights. And don’t forget about Vinton’s famous “Boomtown” Fireworks in late August.
July 16-21: Washington County Fair, Washington – Grand River Rodeo, Moto Cross, and Chainsaw Art demonstration and auction. Now THAT’S a county fair worth visiting!
July 24 – 27, the Johnson County Fair, featuring truck & tractor pull, carnival midway and fireworks display!
