There are a few reasons a great record -- or, at least, a good record with a few great songs -- might be underestimated by listeners. Sometimes, albums are unfairly written off before they're given a chance because they were recorded by an artist who suddenly became unfashionable or who didn't quite have their finger on the pulse of the moment. Sometimes critics hate good albums and sometimes, an album might be underrated just because it isn't the same as the one that came before it. Whatever the case, the problem here is clear -- there's a lot of good music being left in the dust. Ever the scavengers, we sifted through the rubbish bins of alternative rock history -- from Beck to the Pixies and beyond -- and dug up what we think are the 25 most unfairly trashed albums of the last 25 years.
