Stone Temple Pilots have narrowed their lead singer search to a few select candidates. Auditions will begin later this month.  The band had accepted open submissions for a new vocalist after singer Chester Bennington left the band in 2015 to focus on his Linkin Park duties.  Original singer Scott Weiland died in December 2015.

Singers interested in auditioning had to submit audio or video recordings of themselves singing STP tunes. Fans could view submissions and offer opinions on STP's website.  Despite all of the obstacles, it appears the band is determined to continue on as we approach the 24-year mark since their debut album, Core.

Bennington's time with STP was short lived.  The band did release an EP, High Rise featuring Bennington on vocals in 2013.  Here's a clip of Chester and the boys on stage together performing an STP classic...
