Soundgarden's summer tour doesn't kick off until July 19 in Las Vegas, but the veteran band was in fine form last night (June 3) as they appeared on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.' The group rocked out a pair of favorites from their classic 'Superunknown' album, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

With the deluxe reissue just hitting stores, the band broke out the lead single from the 'Superunknown' album, 'Spoonman,' much to the delight of 'The Tonight Show' audience. Employing some extra percussive assistance, the band delivered a rocking version of the track and it should be noted that Matt Cameron was back behind the kit for the performance.

Cameron had previously stated that he would likely miss touring with Soundgarden this year as he intended to spend more family time at home and was also committed to some touring with Pearl Jam. But recently it was revealed that Cameron would appear at select shows, as reportedly a documentary is in the works about the band. For dates that Cameron is not available, the band has been utilizing Matt Chamberlain behind the kit.

The other song the band performed was 'My Wave,' featuring some signature guitar licks from Kim Thayil. The track was performed as an online-only exclusive appearing on the show's website, but it definitely maintained the energy that 'Spoonman' provided during the broadcast. You can watch the 'My Wave' performance below, as well as a behind-the-scenes chat about the song.

Soundgarden are making the most of their time in New York, not only hitting 'The Tonight Show' but also playing the 'Superunknown' album in its entirety at a gig earlier this week. To see our review and photo gallery from that performance, click here.
