Like a shrieking banshee in the night, Soundgarden unexpectedly released a new song -- and it sounds a lot like the Soundgarden that came before anyone outside Seattle knew who they were.

The dark and foreboding 'Storm' is the first new music from the band since their 2012 reunion album, 'King Animal,' and features frontman Chris Cornell alternating between his deepest low-end vocals and trademark upper-octave screaming.

There's no word on whether or not 'Storm' will be on an upcoming release from the band, but Soundgarden have been active lately, including a performance at Neil Young's annual Bridge School Benefit over the weekend.
