The Iowa Department of Public Health is warning that some Iowans may need to get a new birth certificate. If you were born in Iowa between the years 1993 and 2009 you may need a new certificate.

Children born during those years were given smaller wallet sized birth certificates. However, they don't have enough information on them to be used as an official form of identification. So how do you get a new one?

Just visit the Iowa Department of Public Health's website HERE, and fill out the application. You'll also need a copy of your driver's license and the original certificate. Due to the number of certificates that need to be replaced, it could take 4 to 6 weeks to receive your new one.
