Social Distortion Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Self-Titled Album With Summer Tour

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since Social Distortion released their foundational self-titled album. To commemorate the quarter century mark, the band will be heading out on the road and playing the record in its entirety for fans.

The six-week tour will take the band across the U.S. and will include Nikki Lane and Drag the River as support for the shows.

"We are very excited about this tour," Mike Ness, band leader and sole original member, said in a statement. "It’s not often we get to celebrate anniversaries of records, or play them in their entirety, but this record was a milestone for us and after rehearsing it we realized it was a hell of a set ... High energy and good flow. It was a great feeling to play songs that I hadn't played in 20 years, or more. It's inspirational to 'revisit' this album; especially during the writing of a new record. All I can say is ‘it's gonna be a kick ass show!!!!’”

Following their classic debut, Mommy's Little Monster, and its follow up, Prison Bound, the band cemented their reputation with the self-titled third record, released in March 1990. Social Distortion spawned such songs as "Ball & Chain" and "Story of My Life," as well as their cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." It was their first album on a major label, and their first to break into the Billboard charts. Though it peaked at No. 128, it helped the band break into the mainstream and eventually earned Gold status (selling more than 500,000 copies) from the RIAA.
