Aug. 1 was one of the most exciting days for metal in 2014. After six long years without new Slipknot music, the band gave us 'The Negative One,' which the maggots ate up like a nasty case of gangrene. The band has since released a video for the track, but one major question still remains unanswered: Who the hell is playing the drums?

In one of 2013's most surprising stories, the band announced that longtime drummer Joey Jordison was no longer the band. The full story has yet to be revealed, although Jordison publicly claimed that he did not quit Slipknot.

Whoever took over on drums for 'The Negative One' really did their homework, because the driving foundation, fills and overall spirit of Slipknot is still there, almost like Jordison was in the studio all along. We're dying to know who pulled it off, but vocalist Corey Taylor is keeping his mouth shut for now.

"We're keeping a lot of that under wraps, out of fairness, because we want the music to speak for itself," Taylor tells HardDrive Radio. "We don't want people listening to our music and making up their minds about something before they even know what the music is. So trust me, you know, when the time is right, we will give you the answers that you need, and that's the way it is."

Taylor also recently told the BBC that 'The Negative One' is not an official single, just a little taste of what's to come. "That was just a gift for the fans, like we wanted them to hear a piece of the album. The single ['The Devil In I'] comes out in a few weeks and it's completely different. It's more melodic, but it's dark, it's powerful man, its something different, people are going to lose their minds when they hear that."

As for the full album release, Taylor says fans can expect Slipknot's fifth record to drop around the 2014 Knotfest, which will take place from Oct. 24-26 in San Bernardino, Calif.

Stay tuned to Loudwire for the release of 'The Devil and I,' updates on Slipknot's fifth album and all future news from the band!
