Raising Cane's has a loyal following of fans. I consider myself to be in the flock, so to speak. Yes, their menu is simple. But when you do chicken fingers this well, why branch out? For those who are fans of the Texas toast and the Cane's sauce, you'll be happy to know a third location will be Raising Cane soon here in the corridor.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that renovations are underway at an Old Capitol Town Center space at 201 South Clinton Street, in Iowa City. Building permits have been issued by the city of Iowa City to renovate the street-facing unit 142, according to the Gazette. That building used to be the home of a Panera Bread location. That restaurant closed in October of 2021.

So when will this new Iowa City location officially open? The Gazette points out that no grand opening date has been set. Several of the building permits expire between May and July. A job listing for an assistant manager at the new location, up since February, has now been taken down. So perhaps, a mid to late summer opening? We'll keep you posted.

The new Iowa City Raising Cane's would join a Coralville store which opened in April of 2022, and the Cedar Rapids location which opened in March of 2023.
