When one door closes, another opens.

Bistro on the River has been a staple of downtown Cedar Rapids since 2014, but the news broke on Wednesday that they are leaving that area.

The new "Bistro 3 Nineteen" will open this September in the former Marion Maid-Rite location, which itself shut down at 1000 7th Avenue in Marion on January 31.

The following announcement was posted on their Facebook page:

The new restaurant will open at 7:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday to serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and appetizers.

A Saturday brunch will also be offered from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner Saturday evenings from 5-9 p.m.

Bistro on the River was a favorite of mine in their early days. I hadn't been there a lot recently, but its location in the Hach Brothers Building at 411 1st St. SE was conveniently located to downtown workers, and offered an upscale, classy atmosphere that didn't break your budget.

I wish Brittany Hannah and the owners and management the best in their new endeavor. They will close down as of August 18, according to CBS2.
